This is the 'Bathing and Grooming your New Persian Kitten'Section of my Kitten Care Booklet which I give to each Hekla Persian buyer. However, it is a handy guide for anyone that has a long haired cat. Persians and other long haired cats should be bathed more than their short-haired 'cousins', as they can (and do!) tend to get their coats dirty more easily than the short haired cat 'variety'.

Always take out the biggest tangles before you bathe your long haired cat, as trying to pull out knots and tangles when the hair is wet is very difficult and very, very painful for the cat. To do this, it's best to use a comb with 'rotating teeth.'
